Marvin's Room (Official Video)

Drake ~ Marvins Room (Official Video) from OctobersVeryOwn on Vimeo.

Back to the original. Drake has finally released a video for the original version of Marvin's Room. I LOVE it. It has a kind of homemade feel and, idk it's just real to me. It's great. :)

New Music | Chris Brown - Marvin's Room

Okay, so remember when I posted Rochelle's and said I was completely done posting remixes? Yeah, sorry about that. I woke up at about 5am this morning and checked my twitter. All I saw was people ranting about when Chris's Remix was going to drop and other silly Marvin's Room remixes. Of course, I passed back out before I even wanted to listen to the track. So I just listened to it, and I like it. He's the only male that I've heard remix the track and he takes the role of the girl's current boyfriend. I love Chris regardless, but this remix might have to grow on me.

Ohai.

Oh look, it's me and my face :O

Who Run The World? That's What I Thought.

So I thought I was done with my dancer rant, but I just came across this. Honestly, I hate Beyonce's song Run The World and I'm impartial to the video. This however,
this is what the f*#! I'm talking aboutttt! ^___^
These dancers are AMAZING. They went hard the ENTIRE TIME. That's not easy to do. The choreography though, Sean Bankhead, you get MAJOR props for this man. I'm in love with this video. The dancers, the choreo, the way the video was shot. It's amazing what dancers can do. :D

See... This is unruly.

Hold on trap. Obviously a dancer did not put those shoes on. FIRST OF ALL she isn’t on her box like at all. SECOND OF ALL she isn’t turned out… like at all? THIRD OF ALL lord knows that is not how you tie your ribbons if you want to KEEP YOUR ANKLES FROM BREAKING.
Someone said this was beautiful. It made me angry.

Okay. I just ranted about this on Tumblr. This, is just annoying. The person wearing these shoes CAN'T be an actual ballet dancer. FIRST OF ALL she isn't on her box like at all. SECOND OF ALL she isn't turned out... like at all? THIRD OF ALL lord knows that is not how you tie your ribbons if you want to KEEP YOUR ANKLES FROM BREAKING. Someone said this was beautiful. It made me angry.

While I wan ranting and raving about this picture, I got to thinking about how many people "claim" to be dancers. I think I was on Twitter one day and someone tweeted that everyone is a dancer now and that it's getting cliche. UGH. I hate those people that think because the pop their a** that they're actually dancers. I take a lot of pride in my art; not only because I'm good at it, but because it's something that I've invested so much of my time into. I've been dancing for almost thirteen out of my sixteen years of living. Too see people claim their something their not makes me cringe a little. I'm the type of person to stand up for something I believe in when it's talked against. I don't think being a dancer is cliche because NOT EVERYONE CAN BE ONE. "It takes and athlete to dance, but an artist to be a dancer."

*Sorry about my dance raves. I've been going on and on here and on Tumblr & Twitter. I think I'm just excited because I start my summer intensive next week. :)

Ah.

I just had to share these beautiful pictures with you guys. I want to be able to do things like this by the time I graduate. I've got some work to do! I also need to learn more about dancers... I know like 0 people o__O that's not a good look. Ah, the perks of NOT going to a performing arts school lol. :/

Thowback | How To Touch A Girl - Jojo

So, I was just hanging out at home watching some old music videos and How To Touch A Girl by Jojo popped into my head. I actually still really like this song but of course, the lyrics are more relevant to me now than they were back when I was in like 6th grade haha. But I really like this video too; sweet and innocent. It was really hard to find a clear version of the music video and idk why this one cuts off early :/ but in case you want to listen here ya go. Oh! Fellas, girls take this true to heart. ;)

More Chicago Talent (COMING SOON)

A friend of mine named Blaze has been trying to put together a dance crew for awhile. She was always tweeting, asking if people wanted to join. I've always wanted to be in a crew, so of course I voluteered to help her put it together. Yesterday, Blaze, my two other friends Layla and Dorian, and I met up to talk about what we were going to do. The meeting was kind of a bust because we kept laughing and talking about everything else, but if (when) we get this together,
A. it looks good on college applications
B. we'll get some good opportunities to perform. :)
We are all good dancers. Us together? We're going to be epic. You'll see.

Music | Keisha - Jawan Harris feat. Tyga

Jawan Harris Ft Tyga- Keisha from Olutv on Vimeo.

OMG! I just fell in love. So I was just in my basement watching 106 & Park with my cousin like 15 minutes ago and this video came on. Now when it first started, I was doggin' shorty. He looks really young and yadda yadda. As the video progressed, we discovered he was actually kind of cute. He has a beautiful smile. THEN HE STARTED DANCING, MY HEART STARTED RACING, AND MY MOUTH DROPPED TO THE FLOOR. Okay, that was a bit of an exaggeration, but I fell in love with chocolate shawty. Then Tyga came on, he sexy too! But everyone already knew that haha. All my physical preferences aside, this is actually a good song in my opinion. It's cute... like him. I want him to write a song for me. Gabbyyyyyyy, Gabbyyyyyy, I wanna make you happyyyyy. LMAO okay. I'm done. Enjoy. :)

New Music | Trust Issues - Drake

Woop. Drake has been on a roll with leaks from Take Care. I recently saw someone tweet about a new song, Trust Issues, so I had to listen to it. Honestly, I'm upset. The beginning of the song is just him singing I'm On One. Then, the second verse is basically him repeating the same thing over and over again. I like the end of the song but I'm just like... -_____________- He really blew me... but HOPEFULLY he doesn't put anything else like this out. Well, you can formulate your own opinion.

*NOTE: Drake has just clarified on his twitter that "Trust Issues is just a fun thing I did while writing on one... not on Take Care" THANK GOD. I'm excited for Take Care again. :)

Failure & Disappointment.

Anyone who's been good friends with me for the past four years knows about my education. I'm not the best student and for some reason I don't get the best grades. Anyone who was good friends with me before four years ago, well... they know a totally different Gabby. I don't know what it is, because I know that I have the ability to do better than I do. Sometimes. Other times I feel like I'm giving it my all and just coming up short. A lot of people would try to make themselves sound helpless in this situation, but I actually don't know why school doesn't go as easily as it used to back before I started at Young.

My sophomore was by far the best year that I've had at Young... maybe 7th grade was better, but I did completely fail a class that year. My first semester was pure BLISS man. My lowest grade was a C and I only had one in my math class (math has never been my strong suit). Then second semester rolled around, I lost my way, and ended up with a D, a C, three B's, and an A in dance. Of course, my mom gave me hell about it...

YES, I know that these grades follow me for the rest of my life. I KNOW this. I KNOW that I need to do better. YELLING at me even more won't make this situation any better! I'm not here to talk about my mom though. But things like this get me thinking about college. I'm about to be a junior in high school. In the fall, I will supposedly be starting the hardest year of my high school career. Plus I'm supposed to start dancing during the school year again? My junior year is about to be crazy. I'm scared. This is the important year. The year that is most crucial to colleges. Everyone wants to go to a good college and be what they always dreamed of being. What if that doesn't happen to me? My friends are all A-B students. Sure they struggle, but not nearly as much as I do. My parents think that I should always ask them for help, and in some cases I do. But maybe there's something wrong with me.

I want to be a professional dancer more than anything. Looking at my abilities now and how everything has been going, that might not happen. That's scary enough. To think that I could possibly end up having to do something that I don't want to do saddens me and I don't want to believe that my performance in school completely just screws me over. I try, I really do. I just don't succeed a lot of the time. I'm always annoyed with the future, probably because I always have a feeling that it won't turn out the way that I want it to. And to see the people around me focusing on their future because it's working for them, or living in the now, it's never something I get to experience. There's always someone on my back about my performance and how I need to do better and trying to help in ways that aren't helping. It's depressing just a little bit. I never catch a break for anything. I feel like a failure to be a good example for my little sister who already doesn't do the best in school, and I feel like a disappointment to my parents because I never do things the way that want them. The thing is, I like school. Like learning actually excites me a majority of the time. But since it never wants to f*cking go well for me, I end up hating it. UGH!

I dearly love all the people that accept me for me. I wish there was more of them. Eh, I'll live.

Throwback | Daylight - Matt & Kim

Does anyone remember the Mojito liquor commercials two years ago? Yeah, I didn't think you would. Well in that video, the song in the background was [DUNDUNDUNNNNN] one of my favorite songs Daylight by Matt & Kim. It has been my summer anthem since I first heard it in my best friend Kourtney's basement. Doesn't it just give you a carefree summery feel? I think so. I absolutely love getting my music from television, lol. :)

Video | Last Friday Night - Katy Perry

So, remember when I posted those pictures from my Friday night? Well the song playing was the newest single from Katy Perry Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.) and I think it's my new summer song! :) I'm really excited because I haven't had a definite summer song since '09 which I'll post later. But, I have to give my props to Drake because last summer Thank Me Later was the album that stayed playing everywhere I went. Anywho, I'm in love with Katy Perry... and her music... and this video. :P
I think everyone will love this, actually haha.

Last Friday Night - Katy Perry

LMFAO. I love my life.

*most of these were taken at 3am. :)

Fun For The Day

I just did it. LMAO it's funny feeling. I don't know if it works for real though.

More Music | Rochelle Jordan - Marvin's Room

This is the last one I'm going to post, I promise. While I was looking for links to download Jojo's version of Marvin's Room, I came across a singer (also from Toronto) with another remix of the song. Now at first I was just going to listen to it and keep it to myself, but I can't. Her remix took a different approach to the now famous "drunken phone call." While Drake, Jojo, and Teyana talked about how their ex's can do better, Rochelle talked about dependancy. She doesn't want to be bothered with her ex who seems to call her only when he's drunk. I really like her voice too, I need to find some more music by this girl. Everyone that visits this blog should listen to what she has to say:
"I'm just saying I need a new number."

Happy Father's Day!

There is one man in my life that I can totally depend on to be understanding and honest with me. Luckily, this man is my father. I've always been a daddy's girl, and for those who have met my father before it is easily understandable as to why. He's funny, so him and I are almost always on the same page. He's the fun parent who successfully jokes with my friends. He's also supportive. He's been at almost every dance recital, piano recital, assembly, talent show, etc. for his daughters. He's also super hard working. Working two jobs just so his family can have everything they need and most of what they want. He's also a straight forward person; there's not beating around the bush with him. He also has a way of being comfortable enough to talk to about anything, but also not being to harsh with his words. He's strong, loving, easy going, and a good parent even when I don't think he's being one at the time. Now, he's not "perfect" but he's the perfect dad for me and my sister. I appreciate him so much. Love you daddy. <3

Video: Gucci Gucci - Kreayshawn

Kreayshawn "Gucci Gucci" from Strange Customs on Vimeo.

So, I've just recently been put on to Kreayshawn. I think she's raw as hell. This song is raw, the video is raw, SHE is just raw. $wagged out. I love this song though too. Check it out.

Up 2 You - Chris Brown ft. Justin Bieber

Chris Brown feat. Justin Bieber - All Back / Next 2 You (Full Official video) from Matt McCoy on Vimeo.

Here's the official music video for Chris Brown's song Up 2 You ft. Justin Bieber off of his album F.A.M.E. I absolutely LOVE it. It starts off with another one of Chris's songs off of the album All Back and The Biebs & Chris are each having a good time with there girlfriends. Then basically, the sky starts falling. For those who haven't heard the song before the chorus says,
"Even when the sky is falling, I'll be standing right next to you."
I'm not quite sure what happened to Chris's girlfriend though. I love Justin and Chris, they're both beautiful. I love Chris with blonde hair and he definitely showcases his dancing talents in the video. So yeah, enjoy! :)

Get down girl, gon' head get down.

I'm really loving my summer already. Friday was the BEST way imaginable to kick off Summer '11 and if the rest of my summer continues on this path, I think Summer '09 has been finally beat.
So remember my dance team that I love so dearly? Well, our teacher/"coach" is pregnant and we decided to throw her a surprise baby shower. It was a huge success! Ms. G was happily surprised, the food we had was great, and I just love bonding with my GnD babies, especially the seniors who are leaving me. :/ but it felt like a family there and it was great. This just added to my good mood however because when I was on my way to Nica's house for the shower, I came up on $50 in the street. HAYYY! :) So after the shower my friends and I headed to Peacefest which is like a hippie type festival with lots of weed, music, jewelry etc. I bought my first bowl (it's cuteee). Peacefest was actually a great experience... idk, it just felt good to be out in the open? No one really cared. It was just... ^___^
Then I went to this party thrown by one of the boys at my school. It was really fun! Until it got shut down by the popo two hours early. I did pay $10 to get in though :/ but I had the perfect combination of stuff like I wasn't fucked up, but I was just feeling really guuuud. Shoutouts to Ivan though for having my back when the popo came and helping us get out. I wasn't trying to get a curfew paper. Anywho, we then went to my friend's house to spend the night and just had a ballllll. I love them, shoutouts to the $wag Crew! :D Woo. It was just too great. I loved every second. <3

Her Room - Teyana Taylor.

Here's a second remix in what looks like a wave of remixes to Drake's Marvin's Room. This one is called Her Room by Teyana Taylor. I love her remix as well. I really like the lyrics on this one, possibly even over Jojo's extra smooooth lyrics. I feel as if Teyana has been stronger vocally on other tracks though. She sounded a little too soft on this. BUT, I love this one and I love her. :) So, here you go.

Good Times.

I just thought I'd share this video with you all. At my school, I'm on the dance team called Guys N Dolls (aka GnD). Every February, we have a dance concert where every piece is choreographed by the students on the team. This particular one I want to show you is called "Hottest Love...Coldest End" by the team captain Jada Rose. It was choreographed to the oh so popular Trey Songz song "Can't Be Friends."

This was one of my favorite pieces to perform. <3
It starts at about 8:19. The whole show is on YouTube.

Marvin's Room (Cover) - Jojo

Jojo has been one of my favorite singers for a while, and I wish she put out more singles/albums after The High Road in 2006. Well, she's here with a cover of Drake's newest leaked single, Marvin's Room. Now I wasn't expecting it to be better than Drake's in anyway, but I still kind of like it. It's kind of awkward to hear her curse, and also it's kind of... it's a lot more vulgar than I expected. I'm not quite sure how I feel about the lyrics themselves, but I liked her singing. Jojo is smooth as hell lol.

Well, here's her cover so you can develope your own opinion.

*shoutouts to Yesenia for tweeting about the song first. Follow her - @YayaThaBawse.

Summertime Chi, ahhh.

I've officially completed my sophomore year in high school. It's summer time baby! My sophomore year went by crazy fast. Plus, it was super breezy because I didn't dance as much. Of course that decision has it's consequences, but my education is more important and good grades are about everything. This summer I will be dancing at Deeply Rooted summer intensive. It's kind of annoying that it's Monday-Saturday from 5:30-11pm for 4 weeks, but I need to train since I didn't during the school year.

I'm also taking the summertime to try and discover myself even more. Buy more clothes that fit my style, and just define myself. I'm doing this for me. I want to be someone who actually stands apart. Ya know? I'm starting to get more and more freedom to do what I want. I'm just excited to see what summer 2011 has instore for ya girl. :)

New Music: Marvin's Room - Drake

So, I've been on twitter a lot today, and I was seeing a lot of posts about a new Drake song called Marvin's Room. Of course, when I got home I had to check it out. As soon as the song started, I fell in love. It's one of his slow songs and I honestly think he's one of very few artists who can rap and sing well. This song just gave me this feeling... I mean, I just felt it. Is that corny? Well, you just have to listen for yourself. It's pretty great.

Also, here's the first track leaked off of his upcoming sophomore album Take Care called Dreams Money Can Buy. I love this one too. If this is how the rest of the album is, I can't wait for October 24th.

Throwback: Neva Get Enuf - 3LW

Before maybe about a year ago, I completely forgot about how much I used to love 3LW. Sure I was only like 8 years old, but No More is one of those songs that I distinctly remember from my childhood. Here's another one of my favorites. I'm not quite sure why there's only Kiely and Adrienne, but they were my favorites anyway. I think they both look stunning in this video and even though Kiely was kind of taking after Aaliyah with her style + dance, she was still raw. Can't forget about Weezy and his baby dreads! :D It's so funny how he used to look and sound before he got all famous and shtuff. Welp, this is probably one of my favorite 3LW videos. Enjoy this video ya'll. :)

Woo, it's crazy.

Man, I know I haven't posted in awhile. It's been crazy busy around here. Welp, my last week of school starts tomorrow. I have school next week, but finals are this week and I just don't find it necessary to go to school after my last final because my teachers can't teach me anything else.

Also, I have a dance recital this weekend that I'm kind of excited for. It's my last Mayfair recital though, and that's kind of sad. :( but as an artist, I need to go out of the comfort zone and grow. That is LONG overdue.

Hopefully if not this week, next week I can get back into the swing of things and start blogging more. :)
